Asa Roy DARBY , the son of Rufus and Belinda DARBY, was born Aug 25, 1847 in Belmont Co, Ohio and died at his home in Morrowville, on Mar 18, 1841 , at the age of 93 years, 6 months and 23 days. He came with his parents to Marshall Co, Iowa in 1855. The family moved to the Territory of Kansas in 1858, settling in Washington Co, where he has since made his home, except for one year which was spent in Oregon. He was married to Miss Clara HAWORHT, Sept 4, 1887 at Washington, KS. To this union three children were born, Vernon Roy DARBY of Morrowville, Mrs. Winnifred May MENZIES of Washington, and Herbert Willis DARBY of Washington. Mrs. DARBY died Jan9, 1904. He was married to Miss Sara GARRETT, Jan 11, 1912 at Morrowville, KS. He is survived by his wife, his children, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and many friends. He was a faithful and loyal member of the Methodist church for many years. Funeral Services were conducted by his pastor, the Rev. I.C. WILLARD at the Methodist church, on Thursday afternoon and interment was made in the Morrowville Cemetery.
Wilbur, son of Washington and Catherine F. FICKEL was born May 10, 1866 at New Lexington, Ohio, and departed this life at his home in Haddam, Kansas, Nov. 30, 1932 at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 20 days. He was married to Mary Maggie MORFORD, Apr. 17, 1895 at Washington, KS. To this union were born six children, five of whom survive him, his wife and one child having preceded him in death. Those left to mourn his passing are two daughters, Mrs. Maude BEITER, Barnes, Mrs. Mabel WAY, Haddam, and three sons, James Lavern and Irwin Edgar, both of Ventrua, California, and Glen LeRoy of the home, and five grandchildren, Nadine, Mary Ann, and Lester V. Jr of Barnes, Jo Ann and Jack LeRoy FICKEL, both of CA; also one sister, Mrs. Viola HANDLEY of Gurley, NE and six brothers, Burl and Arch of Agenda, Calvin of Clyde, Elmer of Beaver, OK, Walter of Oklahoma City, OK and Frank of Chanute, KS. Mr. FICKEL united with the Christian Church at Wayne, KS, when a young man and has ever been faithful to the master's Kingdom. No one ever heard Mr. FICKEL complain when the load grew heavy and his unfailing care of his beloved wife through her long illness endeared him to the hearts of the community. The deceased has been janitor of the Haddam Grad School for the past eleven years and will be missed by the school children and teachers. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Haddam Church by Rev. DIXON, assisted by Rev. SNARE. Mrs. Ivan BURTON, Mrs. H.L. GRASSLE, John JEFFERSON and Paul SMERCHECK sang. Interment was made in Haddam cemetery.

Thomas Benton THOMPSON, son of Samuel and Eliza THOMPSON, was born in Richland Co., Ohio, Sept 10, 1860, the youngest of a family of four and passed away at the A.F. LARABEE home Sunday, Aug 23, 1931, at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 13 days. At the age of six he moved with his family to Angola, Stuaben Co, IN, where he grew to ;young manhood. At the age of twentt-one he came to Nebraska, settling near Beaver Crossing, from where he went to Wyoming as foreman of a sheep ranch for Mr. UPTON. He spent sometime there and while in his employ was sent across the Atlantic three different tiems with shipments of sheep. Returning to NE he was engaged in farming and mill work for a number of years. After selling out in NE, he came to Haddam, KS with F.M. BRICK and a party of real estate buyers. While here he bought the farm known as the Lee DOVEL place and lived there for two years. After selling this farm he moved into Haddam to the home of A. F. LARABEE, which had been his home for the last twenty-six years. He was associated with Albert HARVEY in the carpenter trade. He then purchased the blacksmith and woodwork shop for Sherm PEABODY and conducted it until it burned down. For the last thirteen or fourteen years he has been engaged in the oil business. THe past nine years, he was in the employ of the BOBBITT Oil Company at their service station. This addded to his already large acquaintance. aHE had been a member of the I.O.O.F for the past thirty-siz years, gransferring his membership from Angola, IN. He served in all the elective and honorary offices in the I.O.O.F. Lodge and was the secretary for several years. He was also a member of the Rebecca Lodge of this city since 1908. Hew was reared in a good Christian home and was a good man, a favorite of children, a friend to man and an enemy of none. He leaves tgo mourn their loss one sister, Mrs. Dorcas CHARD of Angola, IN, one sister in law, Mrs Alice THOMPSON of Angola, two nieces and two nephews, Mrs Herman Allman, Bloomington, IN, Mrs. Cal MEGLEY, Coldwater, MI, Mr. George SOUDERS and MR. Emmett CHARD of Angola, and six great nieces and nephews, besides the family whose home he lived for so many years and a legion of friends. Rev. Geo. WELKER of Centerville, Kansas assisted by Rev. J.P. SNARE of Haddam, KS conducted the services in the Methodist Protestant church. The I.O.O.F. had charge of the services at the grave.
LINDSLEY - Mrs Mary Ann LINDSLEY nee FINKEN, was born at Locust Point, Ohio, May 24, 1851. She was married to James C. LINDSLEY, February 22, 1871.
This union was blessed with eleven children, eight sons and three daughters of whom nine children survive her, seven sons and two daughters who remain to mourn her departure. All of them live in Washington Co Kansas, except one daughter who lives in Falls City, Nebraska.
They came to Kansas in the year 1879 and settled in Washington county where they resided until the death of her faithful companion 3 years ago. Since then she has kept the house and waited for the summons to join him over there. She was one of the oldest residents of the county, having lived here for forty nine years. She became a Christian about thirty-five years ago and has lived a consistent Christian life in all the intervening years.
Her membership has been in the Christian church of which she was ever a devoted member and until failing health prevented her she was to be found in her place at the hour of worship. She departed this life at her home in Morrowville, Friday, January 11, 1929 at the age of 77 yrs, 7 mos and 17 days, leaving to mourn her departure, beside her children, 20 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, three sisters and one brother and a host of friends and neighbors who have known and esteemed her for many deeds of kindness and her words of counsel and cheer and who will miss her from her place in the home, church and community. Yet our lost is her eternal gain and we would do well to imitate her many virtues and Christian grace.
Sarah Jane FULTON, daughter of Joseph and Harriet FULTON, was born in Michigan, Aug 27,1865, and departed this life Aug 6, 1942 at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 9 days.
She with her parents, moved to Kansas when but a small child, and lived at Hiawatha unitl she was united in marriage to Robert FRASER, Jan 27, 1898. To this union one son was born dying at birth.
She fell and broke her hip March 15 and had been bed fast since at the Clay Center Hospital until two weeks ago, when she was taken to the home of the BOND sisters, in Washington. She suffered a stroke, Wed noon from which she never rallied.
Her husband, two brothers, and one sister preceded her in death. She leave to mourn her passing one stepson, Lyle D. FRASER of Morrowville, one brother, Bert FULTON of Willard, Ohio, one sister, Mrs. Manie BATTILL of Hiawatha. Numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Morrowville at 2:30, Aug 8, and interment was made in the Morrowville Cemetery.
Anna Mae, the daughter of ? and Vanse WOLEN, was born June 25, 1867, at Cleveland, Ohio, and departed this life at her home in Haddam, Kansas, Tuesday, May 12, 1942, at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 17 days.
She came to Kansas with her parents when a small child. The family settled on a homested two and one-half miles north of Haddam where she grew to womanhood.
On Dec. 26, 1886, she was united in marriage to william O. KESTER at Clay Center, KS. They made their home at Clay Center, then moved to Lincoln, and later to a farm north of Haddam where they resided many years.
Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. KESTER: Rosa, who died in infancy, Mrs. Mae MC VEY of Lincoln, Mrs Barbara STEVENSON, who died nine years ago, Walter Lee KESTER of Cambridge, KS, Mrs. Bell BARNETT of Geneva, NE, and Theodore of Haddam. Besides these she is survived by seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren, one brother James WOLEN of Haddam, two sisters , Mrs. Mary CRAMER of San Rafael, CA and Mrs Alice CARLSON, Haddam, KS. Her husband preceded her in death in 1917.
Mrs KESTER was a member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge and was a regular attendant of the Methodist Church during her active years. Mrs KESTER was pratically an invalid for the past six years and during that time she was busy with needlework, making quilts and rugs. She enjoyed and appreciated calls of friends during her declining years.
Even though Mrs. KESTER had been in failing health for several years, her death came as a surprise to many.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at the Haddam Methodist Church by the Rev. Mary Ellen LUTZ. Misses Marjorie TEDRO and Grace FETROW and W.S. STEARNS sang accompanied by Mrs. John BRICK at the piano. Interment was made in the Larabee Cemetery.
Those from a distance who attended the services included Mr. and Mrs MC VEY and family of Lincoln, Mrs Bell BARNETT of Geneva, Walter KESTER, Cambridge, KS, Ted KESTER, Neosho, MO, Miss Marvel WOLEN, Lincoln, NE and Mr. and Mrs. Clem SNYDER and daughters of Fairbury.
Mary Ann PACKER, daughter of David and Mary Ann (GRIMM) PACKER was born near Aliance, Ohio, Jan. 5, 1856, and passed away at the home of her son Dec 22, 1945 near Haddam at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 16 days. In the 1881, she with her parents came to Kansas settling on a farm near Odell, Nebraska
On March 6, 1887 she was united in marriage to Jacob E. KLING at Beloit, KS. To this union were born two children, Mrs. Emily LINDSLEY of Washington, KS and Albert KLING of Haddam, Ks.
When a young woman she was baptized in the Methodist Church. Since the passing of her husband, Apr 22,1942, she has made her home with her son, visiting at times in the home of her daughter.
She believed in walking humbly with God is simply to live a life at its best witha deep reaverance for the highest.
She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, her son, two grandchildren, Harold and Dorothy KLING; one brother, Frank PACKER of Kirk, Colorado and other relatives and friends.
Services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Hoffman funeral home, con ducted by the Rev. J.P. SNARE of Washington. Interment was made in the Haddam cemetery.

I am looking for Jalmer(i think this is how his name was spelled) Hill who was married to Louise Yoder in 1955.They had me in May,1955. I was born in Ravenna,Ohio. My father saw me once. Louise Yoder gave me up for adoption in 1958, after she remarried and moved to Pa. Please help me find some information about my birth father.
Susie V. TAYLOR, daughter of Enoch and Elizabeth TAYLOR was born at West Elkton, Ohio, Mar 29, 1865 and departed this life at Patterson Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Kansas, Jan 23, 1932 at the age of 66 years, 9 months and 25 days . Feb. 9, 1882 she was united in marriage to Charles E. LINE. To this union five children were born. With her husband and three children she came to Washington county in 1888 and settled near Haddam, which she has lived for over 40 years. Her parents being Quackers, she became identified with that church at an early age and remained steadfast in the faith until the end. She leaves to mourn her going one son, Harry LINE of Sabetha, KS and four daughters, Mrs. Mary WALDEN, Mrs. Bell LARABEE, Mrs. Grace WINEINGER, Mrs. Rowena RHINE all of Haddam, also one sister and four brothers living in Oklahoma, sixteen grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Haddam Church by Rev. CANDIFF of the Millcreek Quiacker Church, assisted by Rev. L.E. DIXON. A mixed quartette, Mrs. Mable WAY, Miss Lois LATHAM, Russel HALDEMAN and Ted BEEMAN accompanied by Mrs. Edward KULP at the piano. The pallbearers were her grandsons, Merle, Bernard, Loren and Junior WALDEN, Marvin LARABEE and Malcolm LINE. Interment was made in the Haddam Cemetery.
Ida Mae WOHLGEMUTH, eldest child of Jacob and Elizabeth WOHLGEMUTH was born Dec 19, 1886 at Washington, Kansas. in the Ash Creek community and departed this life after a prolonged illness on Sept 19.1945 at the family home in Washington, KS at the age of 58 years, and 9 months. She grew to womanhood at Ash Creek where she obtained her grade school education. She attended High school at Hanover, KS, later taking music in the College at Dayton, Ohio. She united with the Evangelical Church in early girlhood, later transferring her membership to the local Methodist Church being a member of many of its organizations and teaching Sunday School class for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary taking an active part in all its work. Twenty years of her life were spent in the Music store in Washington. She was talented in many ways, ever anxious to learn new things and giving generously of her time and talents to others whenever occasion arose. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred Henry, who died in infancy and Elmer Herman in 1936. She is survived by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. J. J. WOHLGEMUTH, two brothers and one sister, Rev. Robert WOHLGEMUTH of Freeport, KS, Charles of Washington and Mrs. Ruby OESTE of Davis, CA, six nephews, five nieces and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church with Rev. M.H. BISBEE officiating. Interment in the Washington Cemetery. .
