ON Feb 4, 1892, Olive M. CURTIS, dau of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. CURTIS, and E.C. AILOR of Stella, Nebraska, were united in marriage at the home of her parents. After the ceremony the young couple left for their new home at Haddam, Kansas. They lived on a farm near Haddam for many years, but in later years they have maintained their home in town where Wednesday, they received the congratulations and best wishes from their many friends.
The couple has been identified as prosperous farmers of this community and also as business leaders, having for several years owned and operated the City Hotel of Haddam. Mrs. AILOR is the eldest of her family having been born in Hartford City, Indiana, and came with her parents to southeastern Nebraska, where her aged mother, Mrs. A. J. CURTIS still resides. However, due to inclement weather, her mother was unable to be present at the celebration. Mr. AILOR came from his birthplace in Anamosa, Iowa and is the only surviving member of a pioneer family of southeastern Nebraska, also. Mr. and Mrs. AILOR are the parents of an only daughter, Hazel, who is the wife of Dr. Vernon DAVIS of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, also the grandparents of Virginia DAVIS MILLS, the wife of Lieut. Francis B. MILLS of Fort Sill, OK. The fifth generation on the maternal side is represented by Cyntha Ann MILLS, the baby daughter of Lieut. and Mrs. MILLS.
Open house was held at the AILOR home, Wednesday. Mrs. Veron DAVIS received the guest at the door. Mrs. John C. PATTERSON adn Mrs. Caroline B. SMITH of Clay Center, poured in the dining room. Mrs. E.R. MARTS, Nebraska City, presided at the guest book.
Mrs. E.C. AILOR wore a gold broach that adorned her wedding gown fifty years ago. Mr. and Mrs. AILOR received many lovely gifts, flowers, letters, cards and telegrams congradulating them on this memorable event. In the evening a lovely six o'clock dinner was served to the immediate members of the family.

William Vanevrie CHAPPELL, son of Philman and Julia A. CHAPPELL, was born in Allen Co., Huntertown, IN, June 2, 1860 and departed this life at the Concordia Hospital, Concordia, Kansas, Sept 5, 1931, at the age of 71 yrs, 3 mos and 3 days. In 1880 he came to Washington Co, KS. On Jan 6, 1889, he was united in marriage to Martha Jane HAWORTH. To this union five children were born, Ruby, Edna, Ora, Otis and Olga. His wife and two children, Ruby and Ora proceeded him in death. Heleaves to mourn his going a son, Otis CHAPPELL of Haddam, two daughters, Mrs. Edna NOBLE of Haddam and Mrs. Olga ARDERY of Mansfield, Mass. , twelve grandchildren, two sisters, Floretta SWAN, North Dakota, Lessa SMITH, Hydro, Oklahoma, two brothers, Christopher CHAPPELL of Fairbury, Nebraska, and Ashel CHAPPELL, Hydro, OK and many other relatives and friends.
Wilbur, son of Washington and Catherine F. FICKEL was born May 10, 1866 at New Lexington, Ohio, and departed this life at his home in Haddam, Kansas, Nov. 30, 1932 at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 20 days. He was married to Mary Maggie MORFORD, Apr. 17, 1895 at Washington, KS. To this union were born six children, five of whom survive him, his wife and one child having preceded him in death. Those left to mourn his passing are two daughters, Mrs. Maude BEITER, Barnes, Mrs. Mabel WAY, Haddam, and three sons, James Lavern and Irwin Edgar, both of Ventrua, California, and Glen LeRoy of the home, and five grandchildren, Nadine, Mary Ann, and Lester V. Jr of Barnes, Jo Ann and Jack LeRoy FICKEL, both of CA; also one sister, Mrs. Viola HANDLEY of Gurley, NE and six brothers, Burl and Arch of Agenda, Calvin of Clyde, Elmer of Beaver, OK, Walter of Oklahoma City, OK and Frank of Chanute, KS. Mr. FICKEL united with the Christian Church at Wayne, KS, when a young man and has ever been faithful to the master's Kingdom. No one ever heard Mr. FICKEL complain when the load grew heavy and his unfailing care of his beloved wife through her long illness endeared him to the hearts of the community. The deceased has been janitor of the Haddam Grad School for the past eleven years and will be missed by the school children and teachers. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Haddam Church by Rev. DIXON, assisted by Rev. SNARE. Mrs. Ivan BURTON, Mrs. H.L. GRASSLE, John JEFFERSON and Paul SMERCHECK sang. Interment was made in Haddam cemetery.
Leon I. FOX, son of Jerome I. and Ida LARABEE FOX was born near Cuba, Kansas Aug 26, 1900 and died in the general hospital at Muskogee, Oklahoma of pneumonia , following an operation for appendicitis. His sweetheart, Miss Kate HUDSON of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and his room mate, Ira
_INDER (torn) were with him during his illness and were at his bedside when death came. At an early age he came with his parents to this vicinity and when five years old, he was left an orphan and became the object of the loving kindness of his brothers and sisters. His early life , all boyhood’s time of June was spent here; attending the schools where he endeared himself to his schoolmates and all who knew him by his cheerful, happy disposition. When about seventeen years old he went to Oklahoma to visit his older brothers. who were there and the lure of the new country proving great, he eventually made that his home. He was introduced to Masonry, Sept 11, 1925 and was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason, Nov 13, 1925. A short life, all to short, only 29 years, 4 months and 19 days, the youngest of ten children. Three sisters, Mr. F.H. GIBBONEY an Mrs. B. A. DRIPS of Haddam, Mrs. Frank PARRACK of Chicago, Illinois; five brothers, Frank FOX of Grand Island, Nebraska, Schuyler, Roy, Manely and Glenn of Ponca City, Oklahoma, are left to mourn for him. One sister Mrs. Nell ROBERTS of Greeley, Colorado, died in Aug, 1927. Many other relatives are among those who mourn. "Pete FOX" was loved by all who knew him for his cheerful, happy, kindly disposition. Here, where he was known to all his death has brought sorrow. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at the Haddam M.P. church by the Rev. J.P. SNARE, assisted by the Rev. G.S. LATIMER of Blocker. The Haddam Masonic order conducted the final rites at the grave in Old Cuba cemetery, where he was laid to rest.
Fredrick Merrit PARRACK, the youngest son of Delia and Alek PARRACK, was born May 15, 1894, at Morrowvill, Kansas, and passed away at Lincoln, Nebraska, Aug 20, 1940, at the age of 46 years, 3 months and 5 days. When a very small boy his mother passed away and he made his home with his aunt, Mrs. Alice BIRD at Pond Creek, Oklahoma, for 16 months. The remainder of his childhood was spent in the home of another aunt, Mrs. Ida ELLIOT of Haddam, KS. He was united in marriage to Ophra TOWNS on Nov 14, 1912. To this union four children were born: Mrs. Wilma McLEOD of Washington, KS, Keith, Vaughn and Jack of Haddam. His father passed away in March, 1938. Fred spent practically all of his life in the Haddam community, being engaged in the produce business and later farming nearby. For the past few years he was employed in Lincoln, NE. He leaves to mour his wife, four children, two grandchildren, Donnie and Sharron PARRACK, one niece and one nephew and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services wer conducted Thursday afternoon at the Blocker Church, John NEWTON of Fairbury conducting the services. Interment was made in Blocker Cemetery.

Sadness again has come to the community when it was learned of the sudden passing of Mrs. George CRAMER of Washington, formerly of the Iowa Creek community. About two weeks ago she underwent a critical operation at the Clay Center Municipal Hospital. She apparently was getting along well on the road to recovery, and her children who had been at her bedside, had returned to their homes, when she suddenly pasted away early Saturday morning.
Mrs. CRAMER possessed a quiet, modest nature. Her home was always open to her relatives and friends, who will treasure her memory as a kind and gentle woman.
Nanna E. LONG, daughter of Henderson and Catherine LONG was born in Washington Co, Kansas, July 1, 1874, and departed this life at the Clay Center hospital, Dec. 18, 1942, at the age of 68 years 5 months and 17 days. She was one of a family of six children, two of whom died in infancy.
She was married to John L. YOUNG in Nov, 1902, who passed away on Dec 21, 1928. To this union six children were born.
On Dec 29, 1930 she was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to George J. CRAMER, who with her children survive her.
She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, George J. Cramer; her children, Lambert H. YOUNG and Leonard J. YOUNG of Haddam, KS, Jessie Irene WOODS, Verlester Evelyn MITCHELL and Electa Grace BARTLETT of Washington, KS, and Gladys BABBIT of Pittsburg, KS; two sisters Mrs. Mary R. COX of Oklahoma City, OK, Mrs. Jessie K. TAYLOR of Kansas City, Missouri; one brother, John C. LONG of Haddam, KS; ten grandchildren and many friends.
A loving wife and mother and a good woman has made her peace with God and gone to her reward.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hill-George Funeral Home by Rev. DEWEESE of the Blocker Church. Interment was made in Blocker Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. A.F. LARABEE received the sad news of the death of a former Haddam resident, Charles HACKNEY of El Reno, Oklahoma. Mr. HACKNEY was born and raise on the farm south of the C.A. RHINE farm. Mr. and Mrs. HACKNEY visited Haddam a few years ago. The El Reno Daily Tribune gives the following account of his death: Charles V. HACKNEY, veteran Rock Island railroad employee who lived in EL Reno almost 30 years died late Monday afternoon in an Oklahoma City hospital from injuries received in a freak accident a few hours earlier. Memorial services will be arranged by Wilson funeral home Wednesday after the arrival of a son , Victor HACKNEY, a student in the medical school at Yale university, New Haven, CT. Mr. HACKNEY, 55 years of age came to El Reno from Kansas in 1906 and had worked for the Rock Island railroad continuously ever since. He moved to Shawnee about 6 years ago. Besides the railroad union , he belonged to the Masonic lodge. He was serving as fireman on west bound, Memphis-Californian, when the accident occurred early Monday afternoon at the North Canadian river bridge a mile east of Oklahoma City. He was leaning backward out of the cab window checking a water gauge when the train approached the bridge and a bridge girder struck his head according to C.E. GOULD, also of Shawnee, the engineer. Taken to an Oklahoma City Hospital, he died for the head injury a few hours later. Survivors include the widow of the home in Shawnee, one son, Victor HACKNEY, of New Haven; two sisters Mrs. W.D. Walker of Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Charles H. THOMPKINS of El Reno, and one brother, Herbert HACKNEY, Clinton
Sarah Ellen LATIMER, daughter of Andrew and Susan Ann BROWN, was born in Schyler Co, Missouri, July 10, 1867, the ninth of ten children. She was the only surviving member of the family. Her parents died when she was very young and she was adopted by J.Q. and Ella DICKERSON of Livonia, MO with whom she lived until her marriage. She was married Dec 22, 1887 to George Sherman LATIMER of Livonia, MO. Four children were born to this union: Ethel STONE of Vinland, (sp ?)KS; Juanita MANNING of Ringwood, Oklahoma; Paul C. of Bothel, Washington; and Portteus of the home. She leaves twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was converted and united with the Friendship Baptist Church of Livonia in early life. She became a member of the Hickory Grove church near Haddam in 1926, where she held her membership at the time of her passing. She was a member of th Order of the Eastern Star for thirty-eight years and was a member of Venus Chapter at Haddam, KS where she served as Chaplin for many years. She departed this life at the home near Haddam, KS Sept 12, 1945 at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 2 days. She had been in failing health for several years, but had seemed better during the past summer. Her passing was sudden and was a shock to the family and to the community. Those who came for the funeral of Mrs. Sarah LATIMER, were Mr. and Mrs. A.K. MANNING of Ringwood, OK; Mrs. Ross STONE of Vineland (sp ?), KS and Mrs. Walter BABBITT of Vinland (sp?), KS.
Today, May 7, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. KENNELLEY of Haddam are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. KENNELLEY were married in Washington, Kansas in 1882. They lived on a farm northeast of Haddam a few years before Mr. KENNELLEY in partnership with Hayes DRIPS, owned and operated the Haddam Livery Stable for a number of years. The KENNELLEYs later moved to their farm just east of Haddam where they lived many years. After the flood last spring, they moved to their residence in the east part of town.
Mr. and Mrs KENNELLEY enjoy very good health and lead quite active lives. They have a very nice garden this spring and take pleasure in their well kept yard. The KENNELLEY's have one son, Morris, of Los Angeles, CA, who just recently spent a week with his parents. They have two children deceased, Mrs. Ethel FOLKNER and Milford KENNELLEY.
Mrs. KENNELLEY was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank LARABEE, one of the oldest families of the community, pioneer of early days.
Mr. KENNELLEY was born in Illinois and went to Oklahoma where he spent sone time beefore coming to this vicinity. Mr. KENNELLEY can relate many colorful tales about the early days in the Oklahoma territory and also of the settling of this part of the country. The community extends congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. KENNELLEY.
Mr. & Mrs. Henry BERTRAM of Haddam, Kansas celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home in Haddam, Sunday, Sept 2, 1945, with a family dinner at noon and open house to their friends in the afternoon. Mrs BERTRAM was the daughter of John and Anna HARVEY and was born on a farm three miles southeast of Haddam. Mr. BERTRAM was born at Chicago, Illinois, and was the son of William and Amanda BERTRAM. He was raised in the home of Mr. & Mrs. FINK of Bensenville, IL. Their wedding occurred in her family home on Sept 1, 1895. They began housekeeping on the HALFERTY farm south of town where they lived a few years before they purchased their farm which is located southeast of Haddam. Here they established their home, building and improving their farm and reared their family. Mr. BERTRAM farmed extensively and raise and fed livestock. A number of years ago, Mr. & Mrs BERTRAM retired from the farm and moved to Haddam, where they purchased a home and have since resided. Mr. & Mrs. BERTRAM are the parents of five children, John William Henry BERTRAM , who died Apr. 29, 1940; Oscar Robert BERTRAM, who died Dec 28, 1918; twins Lloyd August and Nora Mae BERTRAM-HYNEK and Caroline BERTRAM-SMITH. The couple have ten grandchildren, Mrs. Eileen BERTRAM-DAY, Mrs. Lillian BERTRAM-HEINA, Mrs Wilma BERTRAM-DIETRICK, Doris and Clarice BERTRAM, Nora Opal, Clara and Darel (that was the way it was spelled) BERTRAM, Wm. George HYNEK and Jesse HYNEK and one great grandson. Two of Mrs. BERTRAM's brothers who were present at the wedding in 1895, attended the golden wedding. They are Oscar and Thomas HARVEY. Mr. & Mrs. BERTRAM wore flowers on their golden wedding that they wore when they were married.
Following the family dinner which was served at noon, open house was held in the afternoon, Nora Opal BERTRAM presided at the guest book and other members of the family served during the afternoon. The honored couple received the congratulations of their relatives and friends and received many lovely gifts, Money, flowers, cards, and rememberances. Relatives from a distance who were present to spend this pleasant event included: Mr. & Mrs. Philip BERTRAM , Chicago, IL, a nephew of Mr. BERTRAM, August FINKE (notice spelling var.) Bensenville, IL, a son of the family who raised Mr. BERTRAM, Mr. & Mrs. John KRECKER and Mr. & Mrs. Henry KRECKER of Bensenville, IL, daughters of Mr. FINKE, Mr. & Mrs. Oscar HARVEY, LaPlate, MO, Mr. & Mrs. O.T. HARVEY, LaBelle, MO, brothers of Mrs. BERTRAM and Mrs. Alfred HARVEY, Knox City, MO a sister-in-law of Mrs. BERTRAM. Members of the immediate family who were present included Mrs. Lillian BERTRAM and daughters, Morrowville, Mr. & Mrs. Wm. HYNEK and sons, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd BERTRAM and family and Mrs. Caroline BERTRAM-SMITH. Susie V. TAYLOR, daughter of Enoch and Elizabeth TAYLOR was born at West Elkton, Ohio, Mar 29, 1865 and departed this life at Patterson Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Kansas, Jan 23, 1932 at the age of 66 years, 9 months and 25 days . Feb. 9, 1882 she was united in marriage to Charles E. LINE. To this union five children were born. With her husband and three children she came to Washington county in 1888 and settled near Haddam, which she has lived for over 40 years. Her parents being Quackers, she became identified with that church at an early age and remained steadfast in the faith until the end. She leaves to mourn her going one son, Harry LINE of Sabetha, KS and four daughters, Mrs. Mary WALDEN, Mrs. Bell LARABEE, Mrs. Grace WINEINGER, Mrs. Rowena RHINE all of Haddam, also one sister and four brothers living in Oklahoma, sixteen grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Haddam Church by Rev. CANDIFF of the Millcreek Quiacker Church, assisted by Rev. L.E. DIXON. A mixed quartette, Mrs. Mable WAY, Miss Lois LATHAM, Russel HALDEMAN and Ted BEEMAN accompanied by Mrs. Edward KULP at the piano. The pallbearers were her grandsons, Merle, Bernard, Loren and Junior WALDEN, Marvin LARABEE and Malcolm LINE. Interment was made in the Haddam Cemetery.

She was a pioneer resident, having resided here for over forty years. She was widely known and highly respected by neighbors and friends."
"Lydia Delapp Tourtillott was born December 24, 1832, in Illinois. She was married to Abraham Tourtillott in 1848. To this union were born seven children, three of whom survive: James Tourtillott of Rich Hill, Abraham Tourtillott of Henryetta, Oklahoma, H. B. Tourtillott of Westfield, Illinois; also seventeen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She came to Bates county in 1880 and had been a resident of Rich Hill, Missouri for forty-four years."
"Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. E. D. Lewis of the Methodist church and attended by the sorrowing family and friends. Pallbearers: W. J. Copeland (Ed. note: this may be H. J. Copeland), W. J. Ryan, Joe Donaldson, John Garrison, W. H. Lowder and W. H. Frazee. Burial in Robinson cemetery."

Klostermyer - John F. Klostermyer was born in Hanover, Germany, Nov. 12, 1835 and died at Perry, Oklahoma, April 26, 1924. His wife and four children preceded him in death. James Klostermyer, with whom he made his home, is the sole survivor of his children.
