Silvanus was a Baptist preacher with Quaker roots who founded churches in AL and AR. He was Justice of the Peace in old Benton Co. (now Calhoun Co.), AL in 1841 and was "run out" of AL in 1860 by the AL Confederate Militia for preaching against the Civil War.
